Great Productivity Tips for Graphic Designers

Have working from home as a graphic designer because of Covid-19 not been that successful for you? If so, it is probably because you have not made enough adjustments to your life and continue to be in a messy situation.

Not everyone prefers to stay at home. They would much rather get to their old office and work from there. Nevertheless, given the situation, it is not something that you can change that easily. You will need to adjust sooner or later. Doing so is inevitable, especially because nobody can tell when things will go back to normal

Those who have been struggling should look to take a more proactive approach and switch things up. Here are some tips that ought to help with boosting efficiency as a graphic designer, even if you do not like staying at home.

Tip #1 – Set up Your Workspace

A chaotic workspace is not going to do you any favors. You will not have that much motivation moving forward if you are unhappy with where you work. And it starts with little things. The desk should be neat and tidy. Tools like a graphic tablet and computer should also be optimized.

Take the time to overview the situation and rethink how you can change the environment. Even if these adjustments are simple, they will still help with creating a better place to work.

Tip #2 – Listen to Music

Not every office job allows you to listen to music. Especially something that you prefer yourself. Sometimes, a good song is all you need to get into the right mood and be on a roll while working.

Create a playlist that will motivate you or help to relax. Choose appropriate music for appropriate occasions. You will have a much easier time working, and the hours will pass faster when you are listening to music.

Tip #3 – Disable Notifications

Notifications from a smartphone, tablet, or your computer is a big distraction. You are better off disabling notifications while working. It might not seem like that big of a deal, but an irrelevant message from a random application is still disruptive. You will get into the habit of checking these notifications.

It would be much better to get rid of any distractions and focus on the work. Do not end up in a situation where you are reaching your phone every few minutes because of non-stop notification sound.

Tip #4 – Get Outside When Possible

Taking regular breaks should be one of the priorities. At the same time, you need to get outside, if possible. Some areas are pretty restricted when it comes to spending time outdoors. However, if there are opportunities, make the most out of the time you have available.

Also, while on the topic of breaks, do not limit yourself to just a sandwich during lunchtime. Have a proper meal like you usually would. And be on a break for as long as your contract allows. Not to mention taking the days off.

Tip #5 – Set Ground Rules With Family Members:

If you are not alone at home, it might prove to be quite difficult to not collide with others. Make sure to set ground rules so that they know when you are working. There should be time to spend with family, and there should be a time when you are working. Do not be surprised to miss deadlines or stay up too late working if you are incapable of finishing everything on time as you should.

Tip #6 – Have a Morning Routine:

Waking up at a usual hour might be harder because there is no need to commute to work every day. You might feel that spending that half an hour or more in bed is the best choice.

It might not always be the case. The more time you spend in bed, the harder it will be to get up. You would be better off creating a morning routine. Think about what you can do in the morning that you could not while working in an office.

Maybe it is working out. Or maybe it is cleaning the home. The bottom line is that you will have it much easier if there is motivation to get out of bed early and proceed with your day.

Tip #7 – Try Different Tools

The struggles might stem from the fact that you are not using the best available tools. When it comes to graphic designs, the availability of work tools can be pretty overwhelming.

Consider trying different tools. Ask for recommendations from your coworkers or graphic designers on social media. The feeling of doing something with different software could bring that excitement back and help with finding motivation again.

Tip #8 – Remember What Inspired You

Look back to the times when you first started. Think about what made you become a graphic design in the first place. If you are having issues, seek that inspiration again.
